What was the most special book you’ve gifted or received?

Blurb:

In the blink of an eye; Josey lost the most important people in her life, her parents.

Can a hound dog named Cookie, a pair of Mourning Doves and a passionate vet bring the holiday spirit back to Josey's life in time for Christmas?

Excerpt:

A glob of drool hit the top of my shoe. He let go of my pant leg and licked the goo off my shoe. I wanted to say, "gross," but instead I said, "thank you."

I was hooked. His fur was a reddish brown and soft as silk. Not caring about drool or dog hair, I sat down on the floor next to Cookie, wrapped my arms around his neck and finally felt at peace.

Bio:

Sharon Kleve was born and raised in Washington and currently lives on the Olympic Peninsula with her husband.

She loves romance. She loves reading romance, living romance, and especially loves writing about romance. She gets no greater feeling than watching her characters come alive in each other's arms. Most of all, she loves giving her characters the happily ever after they deserve—with a few bumps and bruises along the way.

One of her favorite things to do is picking up a new book and sinking into the story, immersing herself in the emotions between the characters. She hopes to inspire her readers the same way her favorite authors have inspired her.

When not writing, she can usually be found either curled up in her recliner with her cat and a good book, or in the kitchen baking sourdough bread or bagels.

Come check out Love Under The Christmas Tree!

This book will open your heart to the Christmas spirit.
Five Christmas stories from your favorite romance authors.

Flamingo Blues by Sharon Kleve

Corny Myers has a unique psychic ability; she can communicate with animals.

In the pursuit of the perfect Christmas getaway in Victoria BC; Corny steals a tour bus; returns a flock of stolen Flamingos to their favorite lake; buys Steve, her tough-as-nails Seattle cop boyfriend, front row seats to the Cirque du Soleil; and she gets a bright and shiny new key.

A Christmas Miracle, by Danica WintersChristie has defined herself by her wheelchair and has created a world filled with ‘I can’t’. When she meets her marathon running, salsa dancing neighbor, Marcus, he tries to show her that there is more to life than self-imposed limits and other peoples’ judgments. Will Christie open her heart and her mind to her sexy neighbor, or will the pain of her past keep her a prisoner in her own life? Christmas short story contest winner from Books to Go Now

The Light of Christmas by Jennifer ConnerAfter Joel splashes mud from his utility truck on a pretty woman who works at the mall, he wonders how he can ever make it up to her. Holli Segal can’t wait for her first big break to design the Christmas display window for Schroder Toys. But when a circuit breaker blows, she’s sunk. Will Joel be able to light up Holli’s Christmas in more ways than one?

Love's Christmas Gift by Mindy HardwickSkipper Bill and Elizabeth have been friends forever. But, when Elizabeth is offered a job interview across the country, these two friends are going to need the help of a little mistletoe to find their holiday romance.

Christmas Stockings by Karen HallHolly Chamberlain can write love letters for others, but no decent young lady would dare write one for herself. So when her secret beloved, Grayson Clark, vicar at St. Martin in the Pines, arrives at her office with a request to write love letters for a shy friend, she suspects he is actually the friend and the letters are to the granddaughter of a baronet known to admire him. His request for her to replace an injured cast member of St. Martin's production of A Christmas Carol delights her, but the baronet's granddaughter is also in the cast, dashing any hopes Holly has for her own Christmas love story.

Grayson Clark can speak eloquently from the pulpit, but not to Holly Chamberlain, the woman he secretly loves. After all, he's just a vicar while she is the daughter of one of London's wealthiest merchants and known to be admired by an up and coming barrister. Dictating his own love letters to her may be folly but what else can he do? Having her join the cast of A Christmas Carol seemed like a miracle, but now his predecessor is insisting Grayson be attentive to a baronet's granddaughter in order to pay for St. Martin's new roof. Can't vicars have their own happily-ever afters? After all, it's Christmas.
Set against a backdrop of late Victorian London, and a production of Charles' Dickens beloved, A Christmas Carol, Christmas Stockings brings together two people who are only shy when they are together, and whose fondest wish is about to be granted-and they don't even have to use mistletoe!

Welcome Best-Selling Author Serena Zane!

Serena Zane lives with her husband and son in the Northwest. She works hard, plays hard, and spends her free time studying the Middle Ages in a re-creationist organization called the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc (SCA); and writing her novels.

Zane started writing at an early age with short stories, and poetry inspired by her mother, a strong independent woman who loves to help others, and writes as well. In 2009, she became a member of Romance Writer’s of America. She fell in love with the idea of writing a contemporary action/adventure romance while she attended college to study Criminal Justice. After months of working on homework assignments late at night that made her want to turn on every light in the house, she combined both her knowledge of Criminal Justice and her love for all things paranormal.

Recipe for a Werewolf with Award-winning Author Serena Zane.

One of the many things I ask myself before beginning each book is, “what will make this character great? When I began writing my series Dark Warriors, one of the things I needed to look at was the character of Trevor Gies. Trevor is an Alpha werewolf and runs the pack in Boston, MA where they have been living as humans for decades. Trevor is the sexual rival of Damon Blake, vampire and hero of the series. When looking at integrating the traits I liked from werewolf lore into Trevor, I also needed to look at the flaws - because no one likes a perfect character.

Researching werewolves led into a much deeper study than I originally thought. Sure, they have most of the traits of wolves, living in a pack situation, extreme loyalty, animal magnetism, but what else? Well, much like vampire tales throughout history have changed so has werewolf lore.

Looking at the original tales of the shape-shifter, werewolf or the loup guru; it seems humans began telling stories about them as far back as ancient Greece. At that time, it was mainly men dressing in animal skins that gave them the ability to change. Then if they took off their skin, and someone stole it, the werewolf would not be able to change again and would have to live as a human. Other tales such as Ovid’s stories tell of man drinking from the mouth of the beast to become one. It wasn’t until much later that the tale of changing into a werewolf from their bite came into being.

Personally, I prefer the modern version of the werewolf. I tried to keep the Pack as close to modern legend as possible. They can shift into large wolves, can change others into a Were with their bite, they have an increased sense of smell (in fact all their senses are increased), they have an increased strength, and can run much faster than a human, and (of course), they cannot get sick and they heal rapidly. Their downfalls or vulnerability are caused by Wolfs bane, they can be killed with silver, or beheaded.

The culture of the werewolf pack in Dark Warriors is similar to many; they live within a hierarchy, and are ruled by the Alpha wolf.

However, in Dark Warriors, there are two added elements. One, which I won’t go into too deeply or I will spoil the book, is the war between vampires and werewolves. The cause of the war is because vampires had made blood slaves out of the wolves. They didn’t like this too much as I’m sure you can imagine, and a rebellion erupted. Secondly, there is a prejudice in the pack that will become more and more apparent throughout the series. The purebred or “natural born” wolf does not feel that those that are bitten or half-blood should be allowed to live with the pack because they are not of the Original wolf.

To take us back to Trevor, as Alpha wolf he works hard to deal with all of the above. He is strong, devastatingly handsome, and powerful. But he has an arrogance about him that sometimes gets on your nerves. Check him out in my newest release Bane, third book in the Dark Warrior series.

Bane - A Dark Warrior Series

Strife has found the Pack in Boston. A young woman is murdered in an abandoned warehouse. and three other girls are missing . Detective Nikki Adams gets a whiff of something off about the whole case as she struggles to find the killer before more girls end up dead.

Meanwhile Damon Blake, Nikki’s boyfriend and full-fledged vampire, finds a medallion with the insignia of the Nostre Dames, his own clan, inscribed on the surface at the crime scene. Slipping it into his pocket he stashes the evidence before a war breaks out between the races, again. The tenuous truce he recently forged with the Pack is in danger.

Nikki knows Damon is hiding something from her as the case escalates, but he won’t tell her what it is. She is faced with the fact that he might not trust her after all, even though she has given him her heart.

Excerpt:

Nikki stumbled. She braced herself on the edge of the dais. Faint, she gripped the wood and breathed deeply. Black dotted her vision.

“Nik, you need to get out of here!” Dan crossed the room and ushered Nikki out the door.

Outside Nikki leaned up against the building wall. Dan pulled the warehouse door shut as tightly as he could. “You okay?”

“What the hell was that?” Nikki swiped at her nose.

“Wolfsbane. The sage covered the main scent, but your enhanced senses must have picked it up.

“Wolfsbane?”

Dan looked at her with sympathy in his eyes. “You’re part wolf. The herb is dangerous to those with the lycanthrope gene, like you. You might want to consider bringing in help on this one.”

Nikki gritted her teeth. The fact that she would need to call Damon galled her. She didn’t like having to rely on him, but so many of the cases thrown her way recently involved paranormal elements, and now she had a weakness. Just great. Freakin’ Hell. She couldn’t even change, how fair was that?

You need me? Damon’s deep voice called to her. She couldn’t suppress the shudder of desire passing through her body.

I can’t go in the room. So, yes, I do need you. Nikki let the irritation seep into her tone.

Why can't you enter? Concern laced his voice.

Wolfsbane.

Silence met her answer.

Damon?

Nothing.

Damon? Where have you gone?

“Here.” Damon materialized right in front of her. His large hands pulled her to his hard body.

She inhaled his rich, musky scent. It was refreshing after the dank smell of death.

“You can’t stay out of trouble can you?”

Nikki shrugged, “Seems so.”

Damon’s heart thudded in his chest. If she had ingested any of the Wolfsbane, she could have died. He lowered his head and kissed her, his lips claiming hers with bruising ferocity.

Welcome Best-Selling Author Margarita Felices

Welcome Margarita, tell us a little about yourself.

Margarita: I live in Cardiff with my partner and three little mad dogs and I work for a well-known TV broadcasting company. I love living in Cardiff because, for all its modernisation, there are still remnants of an old Victorian city. I love writing and base my stories in Cardiff because it has such character. When I can, I go out to the coast and take photographs, mind you, we have a lovely castle in the city centre and a fairytale one just on the outskirts, so when I feel I can’t write anything, I take a ramble to those locations and it clears my head.

I am Gothic; I love the fashion, the architecture and the music. The club in my novel is real. When I was writing book one, I got all my club material and clientele from here, I wouldn’t have finished that section without it.

Sharon: That's great! Tell us about your books.

JUDGEMENT OF SOULS 3: Kiss at Dawn

…… is a Gothic horror/Paranormal Romance in which a naïve pure-blood Vampire is tossed into the mortal world. Rachel meets Daniel, a nightclub owner and his group of friends and after Daniel’s best friend is murdered by Max, (Rachel’s ex) becomes embroiled in the search for an ancient vampire artifact. Rachel tries to fight off her feelings for Daniel, even siding with her Vampire friend Arun to think again about Daniel’s involvement, but he’s her love and she’s going to protect him, no matter what.

THE PSYCHIC

Beryl Parker grew up in the old world of fairgrounds and con artists. After years of wedded bliss with Charlie, they had managed the best con ever! But a year later, Charlie dies, leaving Beryl penniless and in hiding. One day while walking through a local market, she sees a sign for a fortune teller and sits nearby to listen in on what was going on. It was perfect! Such a great scam. It wasn't long before she's set up her own stall and five years later, she's living in a grand Victorian house in the best part of Cardiff. She has money in the bank and takes luxurious holidays. But Beryl should watch out who she reads to, because sometimes they come back for more.

THE STORY OF MY HEART

Do you listen to your head or your heart?

When Megan met Dave, a traveling fairground worker, who knew that she would meet her true love? But Megan was getting married to John soon and he was reliable and had a steady job that meant she could stay in the village. With Dave she’d be traveling around the country like a gypsy and she didn’t think she could do that. But did Megan make the biggest mistake of her life? Now 18 years later he’s back and she’s single, but teaming up with him again might just reveal a surprise.

So now, should she listen to her head or her heart?

Sharon: That sounds lovely. I have a few questions for you, so everyone can get to know you better.Sharon: That sounds lovely. I have a few questions for you, so everyone can get to know you better.

1. Do you like to listen to music while you write? If so, who are your favorite artists?
Oh yes, most definitely. I’m such a fan of Within Temptation and Evanescence. There is a particular type of music that can send you straight into your zone. I love to write paranormal stories, vampires are my favourite because you can make them whatever you want them to be like, you don’t have to stick to the conventional type, I tried to steer clear of the stereotypical vampire and their usual story so the music from both these bands helps me achieve that little world that I put myself in to observe my characters. I can’t see to write in complete silence, I just can’t, it’s not possible – I’ve tried it.

I can work with the TV on too, even as background noise. I can put on a DVD (vampires of course) and before I know it, I’m staring at the closing titles and still writing.

2. Tell us a little bit about your newest release. Feel free to include a small excerpt.

The Story of My Heart is my first venture into romance. I wrote the story some time ago and I always wanted to rewrite it and get it published. It’s about lost love and second chances, it’s about the Universe not giving up on you and telling you that you have another go at being happy.

An excerpt: The Story Of My Heart - Released 26th September 2012

Dave paced up and down near their special spot. Even before he’d got her note he’d been thinking about a question he wanted to ask her and he was hoping she’d agree, this was a first for him. He was nervously rubbing his hands together and pacing around the small clearing, practicing how he was going to handle the situation, this was big, and it was going to change his whole life, their whole lives! The rustling of leaves behind him brought him back from his thoughts and there she stood She looked so beautiful in her cropped jeans and flowery top that fitted her body shape. The sun behind her gave her a halo, she certainly was his angel.

“I was getting worried that you weren’t coming” said Dave walking over to her.

“Wedding stuff” replied Megan.

“Yeah, the wedding” said Dave, and before another breath he said quickly. “Don’t do it Meg.”

“Don’t do what? What are you talking about?”

“Don’t go through with it” he faced her, placing his hand on her shoulder, “Come with me, when the carnival leaves come with us, come with me.”

“Please Dave don’t.” Megan pushed his hand from her shoulder and walked away, she couldn’t face him, she was coming to say goodbye. “Don’t ask me again because you won’t like what I’ve come to say to you, and I don’t want to hurt you.”

He turned her around, “You love me. I know you do. I wouldn’t ask you to do this if I didn’t love you, don’t marry him Meg.” He took a deep breath. “Marry me.”

Megan saw the look in his eyes, she couldn’t do this anymore, tears filled her eyes as she said “I can’t Dave, please forgive me, I just can’t.” Turning away from him she began to walk away.

Dave wasn’t going to let her go. Not just like that. He stepped in front of her and held out his arms, almost touching her, willing her to step into them. “I know we haven’t known each other long and I know how hard it will be to leave everything you’ve ever known, it’s going to hurt for a while but we’ll get through it, we belong with each other,” he pointed at the village “you don’t belong there. It’s fate or Karma or whatever it’s called. It brought me here – to you.”

Megan couldn’t speak; tears ran down her face soaking her lips.

“Meg, tell me you don’t want to be with me” he asked.

But before she could answer, Dave kissed her.

Megan pulled away from him, “I don’t want to be with you.”

And walked away from him, not looking back, not seeing the man she loved crumble to the ground, broken.

3. Coffee or tea?

Tea. I’m so British J . I used to drink quite a lot of coffee but it over stimulated me and I found I couldn’t write. I just couldn’t concentrate on what my characters should be doing and I rushed situations. Tea is much more relaxing, although I only have a cup at breakfast and perhaps one in the daytime but I try not to drink too much caffeine.

4. Tell us about your upcoming writing projects.

Well I’m in the middle of writing the second part of the trilogy to JUDGEMENT OF SOULS. I travel back in time and cover a 300 year cycle. Rachel (my lead) has left the safety of the Elysium (the vampire safe haven) and is on the hunt for Max (villain) and the book. She’s joined by Arun (her vampire friend). They travel to several parts of the world in their search. Rachel makes a mortal friend, Arun falls in love, they witness the French revolution and Rachel meets a dashing Count, the Righteous (based on the Knights Templar and the Knights of St John) are more involved in this story too. This book will end where book 3 starts from.

5. What inspired you to start writing?

I’ve often come across this question from other interviews. From a very early age, perhaps eight or nine, I knew that when I grew up I wanted be a writer. Between the ages of about seventeen and twenty I sent out short stories to various popular women’s magazines and got lots of them printed, but I knew that sooner or later I would settle down and write a book. Who knew it would take me so long to actually settle down with the idea.

I was an eight year old with a vivid imagination. One of my first stories was about me and Donny Osmond (Yes I am that old). I wrote each paragraph in a different coloured pen, I thought it so grown up. I took it to school and my teacher read the story out to the class and they all liked it. I caught the bug from then on. I loved essay writing. It took me on incredible adventures; I made new friends and helped them out of difficult situations.

In secondary school, it took two years to find my feet and get back into writing. I surprised my teachers by writing, and writing, and writing. I used more exercise books that anyone else in the class and although it was my adventures that forced me to keep writing - my teachers were the ones that put a halt to it all. I was taken to the Head Master after I refused to be told what and how much I should write. They wanted him to explain to me why I had to suppress my imagination and write only five to ten pages. He couldn’t convince me either and I sometimes think that the reason he started up the school magazine was to give me something else to write! By year four, I was the Editor and producing a magazine that was very popular. I decided that I wanted to be a journalist, but my background meant that I couldn’t spend the next four or five years studying for that degree, I needed to work. But I never stopped writing. The Psychic and The Story of My Heart were stories I sent to a popular British women’s magazine when I was in college. They brutally edited the stories to fit on the one page – but the essences of the stories were there and it paid very well.

Then for some reason, I took a break - a long break. Although the ideas were always churning about in my head, I did nothing about it until about five years ago when I began JUDGEMENT OF SOULS. Initially just a one-off story, it soon grew and it was only after it was finished that I realized it was more of a trilogy than a stand-alone story. So here I am, trying hard to write in-between all the distractions around me, I’ve got the majority of it done, now I just need to fill in a few blanks, it shouldn’t be too long now.

6. Who are some of your favorite authors? What are you reading now?

I’m such big fan of Anne Rice and Stephen King. I’ve read pretty much everything from them and have done for years. When my novel was first released and I started to receive reviews, I was compared to both of them; I couldn’t stop smiling for a week. Maybe it was reading their books that styled my own writing – at least I can say I had great role models! At the moment I am reading Golden Chariots by Chris Karlsen. Chris is such a great storyteller, I enjoyed her other books, Journey in Time and Heroes Live Forever, even if I did read them in the wrong order!

7. What's next for you?

After JUDGEMENT OF SOULS 2, comes part one. The start of it all. This story will be mostly about Rachel’s parents, how they met, how her father found the book, the Crusades, more on the Righteous. It will cover Rachel’s life up to the part of Max’s arrival and the banishment of her parents.

But I have a few other stories trying to get out of me too. I wrote a screenplay some time back and working for the BBC I submitted it into one of their competitions and came 3rd! Unfortunately 3rd place doesn’t get your screenplay made, but it’s going to make a great book, I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m trying not to dwell too much on it otherwise JOS1 may never see the light of day, or may be written much later than I would like. My aim is to have all JOS finished and it doesn’t matter if you start on Book 1, 2 and 3 and read it in that order or if you start at 3 then 2 and 1, it will still be a story that follows on from each book.

8. What do you enjoy most about writing?

(Smiles) I love the adventures I can have without leaving my house! There’s something satisfying about putting someone else in a dangerous position and working out how to get them away from it as safely as you can. I love learning about different cities and history and I can only do that with research – and in JUDGEMENT OF SOULS 2, I’ve done a lot of it. I love getting reviews from readers who like my stories, if I can bring a smile onto someone’s face, then I’m doing a good job, or if I evoke any sort of reaction I know I’m on the right track. Sharing what I’ve learnt along the way with others and also picking up tips from other authors is a godsend. I’ve met so many wonderful people on my journey and I’m not going to let anything stop me from continuing.

9. Would you consider self publishing?

I did at one point (nods in frustration). When I’d virtually exhausted all the ways possible. I emailed, wrote and spoke to so many agents and publishers, both in the UK and in the US. I had a lot of positive replies from top publishers but they just weren’t interested in investing in new authors. Maybe the money just isn’t there for them to take risks? I kept thinking, ‘well it took J K Rowlings 10 years to publish her first book and look at her now’. So I kept optimistic and battled through rejection after rejection until I contacted Jennifer Conner at Books To Go Now. I’d always wanted to see my stories in print, but then I decided that any format, as long as it was out there would be just as good. I’ve been very lucky, when the first novel was offered as a free promotion one weekend; it made number 4 in the Amazon charts. In the vampire category it’d been number one for months and also in the paranormal romance. I shouldn’t get paranoid about the figures, but I do admit that I regularly check.

10. How many hours a day to you spend writing?

Mmmm (sits back and sighs). Not as much as I should I suppose. But I work, I have a house to maintain, three absolutely boisterous Yorkies and other family commitments, so I only get time to write in the evenings, I’m normally ready to write quite late, it could be after 11pm and depending on how good I’m doing, I finish at around 1.30am on a work night and much later if I have the following day off. But I’m also quite lazy, there are times when I may not write for days and then nothing can stop me when I start up again.

11. What do you hope readers take with them after reading your work?

I’m a storyteller. I would love to think that people thought their investment in me was worthwhile. I try to give them a story that I would like to read. It has to be an easy to read tale, not full of long complicated words. Action from the start, loveable characters, a situation that you might find yourself in or can imagine yourself being in, all tied up neatly so that you can’t wait to know what happens next.

Welcome Passionate Cook and Best-Selling Author Sabrina York!

Hi Sharon! Thanks for letting me share!

I was so excited to have a recipe included in the Passionate Cooks cookbook! These Steamy Cinnamon Rolls were a standard in our kitchen all while I was growing up. You can use the recipe to make crescent rolls, or as a base for any yeast based bread and it is super delicious!

The trick is to mix in the oil slowly so the finished dough is super smooth and flaky. Yum.

The cookbook is available for free from All Romance eBooks.

While you’re there picking up your copy, check out my books! My most recent release is an erotic Regency, Folly, coming October 31st From Ellora's Cave:

Ethan Pennington is mortified to arrive at the Earl of Darlington’s house party and discover Lady Ulster in attendance. He has wanted her and hated wanting her—his enemy’s bride—for years. Welcome fellow Passionate Cook and Best-selling Author Adrienne Davenport!

As a romance author I am very passionate about my work. I enjoy the process of creating not only stories but the characters that are involved within them. It is truly fascinating to watch these books grow and develop, often times one feeding off of another. At this time I live with my family in Moab, Utah. When I am not writing I can most often be found either spending time with my son, Julian, a five year old boy who I often tell people is "too smart for my own good." or riding my bike around the beautiful area. If you would like to discover more about me or my books you can visit my official page: www.adriennedavenportbooks.com. If you would like to contact me, I can be reached at: adrienne_davenport@hotmail.com. I love hearing from readers and welcome any feedback you may have. I hope you enjoy the stories.

To date, I am twenty-five, mother to a wonderful little boy, an adventurous cook, and a writer of two different sub-genres of romance. But as with most things, what is now an ordinary event, started as a once upon a time. There was a point, not so many years ago, that I was the girl standing on porch step telling my mom to please let me help my dad work on the car. I wanted absolutely nothing to do with the kitchen- at all. And it was true. Though my sisters loved to help my mom with the cooking I possessed a severe aversion to anything remotely related to the catch phrase “homemade”. Then, one year, the result of a sportsmanship award issued by my school, I was asked to travel to Australia to participate in the Down Under Games. While I was there I stumbled across a muffin recipe, cream cheese and passion fruit muffins. I absolutely loved the treats. Upon returning to the states I wanted to find a recipe that matched the one I had tasted. I hunted for years, finally being forced to combine two recipes to match the one I was after. In the process I began to enjoy the idea of cooking.

This new love followed me for years. Then one afternoon just before Christmas, about three years back, I developed an extreme craving for creamy maple fudge. My Grandma, who at one point in time had performed most of the Christmas cooking, had passed away not to long before that. For the entirety of my childhood she had spent countless hours each year before Christmas creating trays which contained various homemade goodies such as fudge and mounds ball. Once these were completed we would deliver them to friends of the family, a small Christmas Present of sorts. Everyone who received one of these loved them. Now however, with her having passed, most of the family, still retaining a small measure of the sadness that followed, had no desire to take over the endeavor.

That day, the inspiration struck me, if no one else was willing to do so, why should I not do so? The idea seemed a little crazy since after all I had for years been the sole girl to avoid that sector of the house, no matter the facts. But I was determined to have my fudge. So, over the course of the day I explored the internet, searching for the perfect recipe. Instead of the one I’d been tracking, the result was about five different pieces. I wanted to make every one of them! And I did. I created at least ten different trays. At first, looking at them splayed across the kitchen counter, I’m quite certain my family was afraid of risking the taste of burned food. They soon discovered however the food was not only cute, but yummy as well.

For every year since, I, as well as various member of my family, have continued to make those trays. Were it not for my stumbling across this delicious muffin recipe, I might never have delved into the art of cooking. That said, I can only begin to tell you how much I might have missed out on as a result. It only seemed fitting that a recipe, which carried such a special place in my heart, should be the one I submitted to this cookbook. That they accepted the submission was truly exciting. Being able to work with such wonderful authors on this incredible book has been truly an honor. Welcome Best-Selling Author Kara Leigh Miller!

Again Welcome Kara, It's great to have you on my blog today!

Here's a little information about the wonderful Kara.

Born and raised in the small town of Mexico, New York, Kara was an only child who was forced to find ways to entertain herself. Playing make believe with her Barbie dolls and stuffed animals was her first real taste of storytelling before she became old enough to develop a love affair with the written word.

In early 2010, Kara picked up her very first erotic romance novel, and she was instantly hooked. She loves to write contemporary romance, erotica, and young adult romance. Currently she has several full-length novels in the works, a series of novellas, and a handful of short stories. Kara is an active member of the CNY Creative Writers Café and the CNY Romance Writers.

Today, Kara resides in New Haven, New York with her husband, five kids, and three cats. When she’s not reading or writing, she’s thinking about reading and writing. And when she’s not doing that, she’s spending time with her family and friends.

Kara, lets jump right in with some questions.

1. Do you like to listen to music while you write? If so, who are your favorite artists?

YES! Most of the time I have the TV on while writing—mostly for the background noise, but when I write certain scenes (sex, danger, confessions, anything really emotional) I will find music to listen to. I have very eclectic tastes. Recently I’ve been in a serious country music kick. Some of my favorite country artists are Luke Bryan (yum!), Tim McGraw (double yum!), Kenney Chesney (drool worthy!), Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and George Strait. Oh, and of course Lady Antebellum. When I’m not listening to country I prefer almost anything from the 80s—Madonna, Aerosmith, Poison, Journey, etc.

2. Coffee or tea?
Yuck! Neither. I prefer Pepsi.

3. What inspired you to start writing?
My great Aunt Betty was a writer and had a few small publications. My mother is a very prolific writer who has binders and binders of stories she’s written—with no desire to publish them. She writes because she enjoys it. Anyway, Aunt Betty and my mom were, and still are, a huge inspiration to me.

I’ve always loved to read and I’ve always had this desire to write something. The timing just never seemed right. I’d start something but would never finish it. When all my kids started school and I was left home alone, I got bored. Sure, I suppose I could’ve gotten a job, but I had 101 reasons not to. So, I decided it was finally time to finish something. I put my fingers on the keyboard and I haven’t stopped since.

4. How do you choose the character's names?
Oh, man. Finding names for my characters is probably the one thing I struggle with the most. I use random name generators; I search the Social Security Administration website; I do Google searches for baby names. My favorite way to choose a character name though is via Facebook. I’ll post a few variations of names I’m considering along with a brief character sketch and ask my fans to either vote or provide suggestions. I’ve gotten a lot of great names that way.

5. Who are some of your favorite authors? What are you reading now?
Some of my favorite authors are Lora Leigh, Julie Ann Walker, and Ryan Winfield. Currently I’m not reading anything, but I just finished Ryan Winfield’s “The Park Service”. (Great book, by the way, I highly recommend it.)

Let's talk about your writing career.

Love by Number (The Aurora Island Resort Series #1)

Ashleigh Malone had her heart ripped out by a man--a man who stole her money, left her in debt, slept with her best friend, and destroyed her ability to trust. She throws herself into her job and swears off all men.
